Mountain Valley chapel Values
We live by a set of core values. We believe these values help keep us aligned to our purpose. We incorporate them into our family and every ministry we are a part of.
- We value the presence of God. We value the presence of God. We desire to be a place and a people of His presence first and foremost. We exist to be people of His presence. Presence comes through relationship and intimacy with God. Worship, prayer, praise, and trust all play a vital role in creating a lifestyle of intimacy. Intimacy with the Lord is a consistent trust in who He is and a constant awareness of His presence. (Exodus 33, Acts 2:28, 2 Corinthians 3)
- We value worship and praise. We value worship and praise as the atmosphere of heaven. When we worship, we come into agreement with what heaven is like. As we praise and worship we release heaven’s atmosphere in and through our lives, thus releasing the atmosphere of heaven here on earth. Worship and praise are keys to our relationship with the Father and we are transformed into His image when we worship Him and spend time in His presence. (Psalms 100:4, Matthew 4:10, Revelation 4:10)
- We value prayer. We value prayer as communication with God by us speaking to Him and Him speaking to us. Healthy relationships have healthy communication. Prayer releases His will through us to earth. The quality of our prayers is not in the length, the fancy words, or the formula. The quality of our prayers come from the quality of our relationship. Our relationship is built on faith and faith is an active relationship of trust. (1 Thess. 5:16-18, 1 John 5:14-15, Eph.6:18, Rom. 8:26, Phil. 4:6)
- We value the Word of God. We value the Word of God (Bible) as our standard of truth and our constant in an ever-changing world. We value the reading, studying, meditating, teaching, and preaching of the Word of God. The Word of God is the will of God. To know His will we must know His Word. (Heb. 4:12, 2 Tim. 3:16-17, Ps. 119:11,105)
- We value the ongoing work and presence of the Holy Spirit in every believer. We value the work and presence of Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer (all who call on the name of Jesus will be saved) and is working in that person to make them more like Christ. It is the baptism of Holy Spirit that empowers us to do the works of Jesus. We believe Holy Spirit lives in every believer and His gifts are for today and available to every believer. Therefore, we allow Holy Spirit to have His way in our lives and in our church. (Acts 1-2, 1Corinthians 12-14 Eph. 4)
- We value the love God has for us and others. We value love because it is His love for us that brought us into His love and gave us the ability to love Him. We desire to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. And the love we have for Him should show in the way we love ourselves and others. (1 John 4, John 3:16, 1 Cor. 13, Romans 12, Eph. 5)
- We value family. The kingdom of God is a family and He is our Father. We are His sons and daughters and we mature as we know Him better. We value family. We value healthy, godly marriages, parenting, single living, and all other family relationships. Our highest priority in life and ministry, other than the priority to the Lord, should be to our family. We value the church family. The Church is the family of God, and we desire to function as a healthy family. We live to raise up sons and daughters of God who are confident in their identity in Christ, knowing who the Lord is and who they are in Him. We value the global family of God. We are part of the much larger family, the family of God that extends all over the earth and across cultural and denominational lines. And as such, we pray, support, and honor all our brothers and sisters in Christ. (Matt. 6:9, Eph. 6:1-2, 1 Tim. 5:8, 1 Cor. 8:6, Rom. 8, 1 John 3:1-3)
- We value the ministry of every believer. Our first ministry is to the Lord and then to others. All believers are to be equipped for the work of the ministry. We value relational ministry. Equipping flows through relationships; first, our personal relationship with Jesus and second, our relationship with other believers. These relationships, as well as the fivefold ministry, equips us for the work of ministry. (1 Chron. 23:13, Eph. 4, 1 Sam. 3:1)
- We value honor. Honor creates an atmosphere of the kingdom. Honor brings an atmosphere of joy, peace, and righteousness in the Holy Spirit. The atmosphere of honor brings health, wholeness and refreshing. Life in the Spirit is a life of honor. Where there is honor there is love. (Rom. 12:10, 1 Pet. 2:17, Rev. 5:12-13,)
- We value the Kingdom of God. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We want to see the kingdom of God advance here on the earth, as it is in heaven. This includes the advancement of the kingdom by fulfilling the great commission to go into all the world and make disciples. We value kingdom advancement to see hearts and lives changed for the glory of God. (Matt. 6:9-13, Matt. 6:33, Luke 10:9, Matt. 16:19)
- We value fun. Life can be serious and challenging at times. It is important to take the time to appreciate what we have, enjoy the blessings of the Lord, and have fun together.
